TYSA Select Program
TYSA offers “Select” soccer programs for U-13 to U-19 boys and girls (ages 13-and-under through 19-and-under). These programs are the most competitive at TYSA, and require a “tryout” to be selected to play. Some of our best coaches are involved in this leading edge program to field the most competitive soccer teams at TYSA.

Games: Roughly half of the games are at our home field (Granite-Patillo Park) and the other half are away. In general travel is limited, away games are typically no more than 45 minutes drive from Tucker against other metro Atlanta area associations. The player and parents MUST be committed to getting the player to practices twice per week – also at the TYSA Granite-Patillo Park complex.
The typical season consists of:
• Pre-season camp (Fall only)
• 4 weeks pre-season training
• 1 pre-season tournament
• 10-12 regular season games (roughly 5 home / 5 away, 75% Saturday and 25% Sunday afternoon)
• 1 post-season tournament
Tournaments: There will be four tournaments during the playing year, of which at least two are mandatory. The tournaments are held in the pre- and post-season for both the Fall and Spring seasons to give the coach a chance to evaluate the players and team strengths/weaknesses. Therefore, participation in all tournaments is desired. A tournament usually consists of a minimum of 3 games with a possible 4th final game if the team performs well. Each tournament costs the team approximately $500 to register and this cost is divided evenly across all participating players. So the cost is approximately $35 per player for a tournament depending on team size.
Uniforms: The Adidas uniform cost is $115.96 for Youth sizes and $124.92 for Adult sizes. This includes 2 shirts, 2 shorts, 2 socks and bag; other optional items are also available. Two practice shirts are also required this year for every player for an additional $30. Our Adidas uniform contract runs 3 years and ends in the summer of 2012. Replacements within the 3 year time frame are only required if condition or size demands it, otherwise the same uniform can be used for 3 years.
Practices: All players must bring a Size 5 soccer ball and water to every practice. All players must wear shin guards along with their Adidas practice jersey. Soccer shoes, cleats or turf, are recommended. Use of sports goggles or soft contacts is recommended in lieu of glasses.
Mandatory Team Camp: The team summer camp is included in the registration fee. Each player must bring water to every practice along with a size 5 ball. Shin guards are required, and soccer shoes, cleats or turf, are recommended.
Registration Refund Policy:
Moving Out of Area
If a registered Select player moves out of the area (35 miles radius from TYSA) and notifies the age group commissioner prior to the formation of teams at the beginning of the season (4 weeks before the first game of the season), a refund of the registration fee will be allowed. The refund payment will be issued at the end of the season and mailed to the new address.
Injury
In the event of a serious injury or disabling illness before the first game of the season that prevents a registered player from playing during the season, a refund may be allowed at the discretion of the President. The refund payment will be issued at the end of the season. The Capital Improvement Assessment is non-refundable.
Financial Aid: Financial aid is available and is based on need. For more information click here.
