Triumph Academy Program
Triumph Academy Program Information
TYSA offers an Academy soccer program for boys and girls, 8 to 12 years old. This program is for the more serious player who desires professional coaching. Certified coaches work on player development and team tactics. The home field is the Granite-Patillo Park complex. Practices and home games are held there. Also, player assessments are required at the beginning of the season.
Age Group: The Academy Level Program is offered for the U9, U10, U11 & U12 age groups. It is a stepping-stone to the select program. The commitment level is more than that required in the recreational program, but less than that required of the select program. Similar to the recreational level program, it is open to players of all skill levels.

Coaches: The program is organized by the Vice President Academy Program, Pam Beard and run by the Director of Coaching, Warren van der Westhuizen. To keep the training costs down, a combination of paid trainers and volunteer parent coaches are used. There are no fixed teams at the start of the fall season for U9, U10 & U11. Fixed teams are assigned for the spring season. The player is part of the group and teams will be put together each week to play against each other and against similar teams from other associations.
All Games: Roughly half of the games are at our home field (Granite-Patillo Park) and the other half are away. In general travel is limited, away games are typically no more than 45 minutes drive from Tucker against other metro Atlanta area associations. The player and parents MUST be committed to getting the player to practices twice per week (TYSA Granite-Patillo Park).
The typical season consists of:
· Pre-season camp (Fall only)
· 4 weeks pre-season training
· 1 pre-season tournament
· 10-12 regular season games (roughly 5 home / 5 away, 75% Saturday and 25% Sunday afternoon)
· 1 post-season tournament
· U9-10 play 6v6 and U11-12 play 8v8 game format
Mandatory: A team summer camp is included in the registration fee. Each player must bring water to every practice along with a ball (U9-U12 = Size 4), and must wear shin guards. Soccer shoes, cleats or turf, are recommended. Use of sports goggles or soft contacts is recommended in lieu of glasses.
Tournaments: Each team typically participates in four tournaments per seasonal year. The tournaments are held before and after both the Fall and Spring seasons to give the coach a chance to evaluate the players and team strengths/weaknesses. Therefore, participation in tournaments is required. A tournament usually consists of a minimum of 3 games with a possible 4th final game if the team performs well. Each tournament costs the team approximately $400-$500 to register. This cost, plus coaching fees, is divided evenly across all players, so cost is approximately $45-60 per player per tournament depending on team size.
Duration: The commitment to the program is for one year (fall and spring season).
Player fees: Player fees include registration for fall and spring seasons, capital improvement, coaching and pre-season camp. Uniform and tournament entry fees are additional.
Refund Policy: A registered player is bound to Triumph Youth Soccer Association for the entire seasonal year. A request for release will be considered for extenuating circumstances. All such requests must be submitted to the Program Administrator (admin@tysa.com). The registration fee, once paid, is refundable only if the registered player moves in excess of 25 miles from the area or is unable to participate due to injury. All releases and/or refunds will be submitted by the Program Administrator to the TYSA President for approval. Approved refunds will be pro-rated accordingly.
