Field Marshals

As a Field Marshal volunteer, you are TYSAs representative to the soccer players, and families at our facility. Please, wear your shirt or jacket so you can be readily identified. Your team leader will be the Officer of the Day, who is a TYSA Board Member. You make contact with the Officer of Day at the beginning of your tour of duty in order to receive specific instructions and activities you will need to perform as a Field Marshal. Aside from any assignments given you by the Officer of the Day, you need to walk around all the fields at the main complex so you are available to answer questions and assist players and parents. Potential conflicts that are presented to you should be worked out with the Officer of the Day, i.e., referee shortage; coach/player/parent ejections from the premises; player injury. Keys for all the locks are in the Field Marshal Handbook.

Field Marshal Responsibilities:

Saturday Morning Shift (7:15 to 12:30)
  • Unlock goals for all fields of play approx. 30 minutes before the start of first game of the day.
  • Check game schedule for game times. (Field Marshal Book)
  • Place goal pins out for fields #1, 3, 5, & 6. Field 2A&B still use spikes, so place the bucket (in lower shed) with the spikes and hammer by gates to field. Field 6 has pins and flags in shed at the field.
  • Place corner flags on all individual fields of play.
  • Coaches are responsible for securing goals and flags.
  • Encourage referees to get games started on time!!!!

  • Tell coaches of last games on each field that they are responsible for removing corner flags, pins, and spikes and putting equipment in shed. ALL GOAS MUST BE LOCKED DOWN to a designated place at each field. U8 coaches need to lock teams benches as well as goals. LOCK SHED after all equipment has been returned.
