Playing Experience

Warren van der Westhuizen enters his 3rd year at TYSA and his 4th season as an assistant coach with the Clayton State University soccer program after a stellar collegiate career at Clayton State.

In addition to his coaching duties at Clayton State, where he will specialize in coaching the keepers, fitness/ speed and agility program, he also assists in recruiting, scouting and soccer operations.

He most recently played for the top team in the Heartland Division in the PDL for the Des Moines Menace in 2003. He was 3rd in the Nation and Team-low .98 goals against average after logging a team-high 848 minutes. 

Westhuizen, a four-year letterwinner at Clayton State, holds virtually all of the goalkeeper records in both the Peach Belt Conference and at Clayton State.

* .64 shutout percentage in 2000 ranks 5th best in NCAA Division II history

* .47 goals against average in 2000 ranks among the top-25 in NCAA Division II history

* .64 goals against career average ranks 7th in NCAA Division II history

*  6,841 overall playing minutes ranks 15th in NCAA Division II history

*  three-time selection to the NSCAA All-Southeast Region

*  three-time selection to the All-Peach Belt Conference teams.
 
Education He graduated from Clayton State in 2003 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology and is also pursuing degrees in Marketing and Psychology at the school.
