Professional
Warren started his playing professional playing career in 1997 at the age of 18 when he practiced with Morocco Swallows in the PSL (Professional Soccer League) in South Africa and then signed with Real Rovers of the PSL in South Africa that same year. He ended his professional playing career in South Africa so he could further his studies in the USA.
Semi Professional
He most recently played for the top team in the Heartland Division in the PDL (Professional Development League) for the Des Moines Menace in 2003. He had the 3rd lowest goals against average with a team-low .98 goals against average after logging a team-high 848 minutes.
College He started at Clayton College and State University in May 1999 where he now was the assistant coach for 5 years. Westhuizen, a four-year letter-winner at Clayton State, holds virtually all of the goalkeeper records in the National Record Books ,the Peach Belt Conference and at Clayton State. His .64 shutout percentage in 2000 ranks 5th best in NCAA Division II history, while his .47 goals against average that same year ranks among the top-15 all-time. His career .64 goals against average ranks seventh in NCAA history, while his 6,841 minutes ranks 15th.
Westhuizen was selected 3 times to the NSCAA All-Southeast Region and All-Peach Belt Conference teams.
Coaching
Warren has been the Director of Coaching at TYSA since 2009. He was the recreation DOC for the previous 3 years. Warren coached the Atlanta Silverbacks’ professional goalkeepers Ryan McIntosh, and Felipe Quintero, Mexican National Team goalkeeper. He is also the Goalkeeper Coach for the Silverbacks PDL team.
Warren is a Regional ODP Staff Member for Region III. He is also an ODP goalkeeper coach. Warren van der Westhuizen completed his 1st season as the Goalkeeper coach with the Georgia State University soccer program who just completed there best season in Div 1 history. In addition to his coaching duties, where he will specialize in coaching the keepers, he also assists in recruiting, scouting and daily soccer operations. Warren trained the USA under 20 National Team keeper, Michael Gustavson, who played for the San Jose Earthquakes. Warren also coaches the Senior National Team Goalkeeper for Antigua and Barbuda, Janiel Simon, who played in all the qualifying matches for the World Cup 2010.
Along with coaching at Georgia State, Warren also served in 2004 as an assistant coach and web page developer for the Great Lakes Division Professional Development Level (PDL) team, the West Michigan Edge.

Education
Warren graduated from Clayton State University in 2003 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology and in 2007 received his Bachelors in Science (Psychology). Warren is currently pursuing his Degree in middle School Education at Clayton State University
